The weather is finally changing and the flowers are starting to bloom! These are great focal beads to wear on a leather cord or silk ribbon. You can see mine with peyote beadwork on a handmade kumihimo cord. The possibilities are endless!
And this one can be found on Etsy

…but a slightly different kind…These are a few of the glass wine stoppers I made. These are made on a large hole mandrel. Once they’re out of the kiln, they are glued with epoxy onto the peg that screws on a wine stopper blank. These are fun to make! You can find them in etsy shortly.

I’ve been very busy doing lots of different things but one of my favorite ones was the school Art project. Every year the class makes something artsy for the school auction and I had the privilege of working with the children.
I painted the background at home and the children placed their handprints on it. I later turned their handprints into fishes and added minor details here and there.
The inspiration came from my daughters artwork…they like to paint on the weekends and the last thing they do before they wash their hands is put paint all over both hands and make handprints….and one day, they became fishes.

I’ve been away for a long time now for a good reason. My dad passed away unexpectedly on January 1st, three weeks before the trip I planned to see him. As you can imagine I was devastated by the news and very sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye. I did call him a few days before he died and he sounded happy and eager to see me soon. Little did I know, that would be the last time I spoke to him.
I am blessed to have had such a terrific person in my life. He was a role model…a fair and generous man who believed in us and always gave you a second chance. Thank you Dad for a wonderful life. You will always be in our hearts.

Hope you had a great Halloween! I have a couple of pictures to share: Farmer Mike’s carved pumpkin for the 2008 Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival

And the pumkin patch where we picked our pumpkin from this year, which by the way won the ‘most scary’ category in the school contest.
We had quite a few children trick or treating this year. I enjoy seeing children in their costumes, specially in the younger ones. They look adorable! Luckily the rain stopped long enough for the children to enjoy the evening.

I just listed this dragon on Etsy. This is another smiling dragon head made with periwinkle blue and transparent purple dots. The bead measures approximately 1/2 inch height and the hole runs vertically.
What else? I am still playing with cane and turquoise…I love the ocean and can’t help myself from making all these sea inspired beads…They just bring wonderful memories of my childhood.
