Last year I was very fortunate to take a class with Andrea Guarino.  She taught us how to use silver to bring out the colors in the glass.  Amongst other things, she showed us how to make her beautiful heart pendants… so I tried it and changed it a bit…and the heart above is what I came up with.  Hope you like it!

Well I started with one cat and then came a second and a third…so here they are…all with murrini flowers on their bodies.    The first two were etched to obtain the velvety frosted look.

I recently visited the Monterrey Bay Aquarium with my family and was inspired by the beauty of the jellyfish. I certainly wouldn’t like to swim with them…done that when I was a child and they sting!!! This time I admired them through the glass. Here are some pictures of the beads I made… I’ve been practicing using handmade murrini.   Murrini are those little circles with lines.  They’re are made in a cane, cut and placed on the bead.  I also like the amber bubbles…they look like little jewels.  I’m thinking of turning them into necklaces but haven’t decided to separate them yet…don’t they look good together?

and pictures of glass blown art inspired by the jellyfish…not made by me…yet.  Perhaps someday I will venture into glassblowing.
