The weather is finally changing and the flowers are starting to bloom!  These are great focal beads to wear on a leather cord or silk ribbon.  You can see mine with peyote beadwork on a handmade kumihimo cord.   The possibilities are endless!

Pastel Blue Kitten

This kitty is ready for Spring.  It’s made of pastel blue Italian glass and measures approximately 1 inch width.  The hole runs horizontally.  You can find it  on Etsy!

More Fishes…

…but a slightly different kind…These are a few of the glass wine stoppers I made.   These are made on a large hole mandrel.  Once they’re out of the kiln, they are glued with epoxy onto the peg that screws on a wine stopper blank.  These are fun to make!  You can find them in etsy shortly.

Floral Cat Glass Bead

floral_kitty.jpg

At last a new cat!  My cold is over, my jewelry update is done so I’m back to making beads! The inspiration for this cat came from a trip to the SF zoo where my children rod a beautiful white horse on the merry go round…inspiration hit, and the floral kitty was born! This kitty measures 7/8″ from hole to hole (horizontally) and comes strung in an adjustable cotton cord embellished with cheerful Greek ceramic spacers.  The price for this kitty is $20.

Charm Exchange

I signed up for a charm exchange about two months ago in Lampwork Etc. The instructions were to make one inch charms in any media as long as the majority of the charm components were made by the participant. My first idea was to make a tiny dream catcher with wire but thought it might be too fragile…my second idea were love knots (danish knots) in copper wire and made all 25 of them but the wire tarnished a little bit so I decided to go back to the drawing board and since I recently discovered how to work with raku frit, I decided to make these charms. Aren’t they dreamy?

Each of the participants will receive 25 charms (1 from each artist)…can’t wait to see the others!

New bracelets!

lampwork glass bracelet jewelry

Well, it’s been a while since I added jewelry to my site…so here you have it! I posted new bracelets in fall colors. If you recall, I made the beads last month so they’re finally turned into jewelry. I’m still making more pieces every night so keep an eye on the jewelry pages since I will have new necklaces too.

On the bead front, my DH filled up the gas tank and in the process he also traded it for one of the new propane tanks …well not so new…but new to me :) . Anyhow, I didn’t have much time to make beads yet but will surely make some this weekend…thinking pendants…any suggestions?

Tonight torching session ended quickly…I planned a four hour session but little did I know that I was running out of propane. I should have known when I lighted the torch and felt the garlic smell…that is the signal that the tank is empty, but I just kept going…opening the propane regulator every time the flame got smaller. At least I was able to finish the last bead I was working on! I only got to do a handful of raku beads and a jellyfish bead…We’ll see how they turn out…

Since I couldn’t torch, I took all my bead supplies and made this bracelet. I made the beads a couple of weeks ago. I named it “Ocean Bracelet” since the colors remind me of the sea.lampwork glass jewelry bracelet

Kitty tile and smiling cat on Ebay

I just listed a couple of beads this week on Ebay. The first one is a brown kitty tile. The hole runs horizontally but it’s closer to the top so that the bead always hangs properly (kitty side on the front!)

The second bead is a smiling tabby cat. Both listings end on Tuesday. Happy bidding!
