School of Fish

fish.gif

I’ve been very busy doing lots of different things but one of my favorite ones was the school Art project.  Every year the class makes something artsy for the school auction and I had the privilege of working with the children.

I painted the background at home and the children placed their handprints on it.  I later turned their handprints into fishes and added minor details here and there.

The inspiration came from my daughters artwork…they like to paint on the weekends and the last thing they do before they wash their hands is put paint all over both hands and make handprints….and one day, they became fishes.

Picking up the pieces

I’ve been away for a long time now for a good reason.  My dad passed away unexpectedly on January 1st, three weeks before the trip I planned to see him.  As you can imagine I was devastated by the news and very sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye.  I did call him a few days before he died and he sounded happy and eager to see me soon.  Little did I know, that would be the last time I spoke to him.

I am blessed to have had such a terrific person in my life.  He was a role model…a fair and generous man who believed in us and always gave you a second chance.   Thank you Dad for a wonderful life.  You will always be in our hearts.

Puppy

I made this puppy and listed in on my Etsy store and a couple of days later, he found a home!  He’s on his way to his new owner now.

Trick or Treat!

carved pumpkin

Hope you had a great Halloween!  I have a couple of pictures to share: Farmer Mike’s carved pumpkin for the 2008 Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival

And the pumkin patch where we picked our pumpkin from this year, which by the way won the ‘most scary’ category in the school contest.

We had quite a few children trick or treating this year.  I enjoy seeing children in their costumes, specially in the younger ones.  They look adorable!  Luckily the rain stopped long enough for the children to enjoy the evening.

Periwinkle Dragon

I just listed this dragon on Etsy.  This is another smiling dragon head made with periwinkle blue and transparent purple dots.  The bead measures approximately 1/2 inch height and the hole runs vertically.

What else?  I am still playing with cane and turquoise…I love the ocean and can’t help myself from making all these sea inspired beads…They just bring wonderful memories of my childhood.

Piece of Mind Jewels Trunk Show

I’ve been missing for a while as I was very busy with my ‘day’ job.  I’ve been working long days but I believe I’m over the hump so it should get easier now…or at least that is what I hope :)

Last Saturday I participated in a trunk show at piece of mind jewels.  Overall I had a great time chatting with other lampworkers and customers.  I sold a few beads from the collection I was building up, but not all!  I will be listing them in the following weeks…after I take pictures of them.  That is the most time consuming part…

I also finished a special order bead set.  Rich browns…just in time for the fall/winter season.  This one is on its way to the UK.

Back from a short break!

Halloween lampwork beads glass

I finally managed to take a day off from my day job and went to Disneyland with my family.  It was nice to see the old familiar rides and new ones (or at least, new for me :)).  I spent most of the time in the kiddie rides that my youngest daughter enjoyed but managed to go to the Indiana Jones ride with my oldest one.  That was a thrill!  Anyhow I’m back now and I’m posting a set of Halloween beads I made before I left.  You can find it on Ebay now.

Green Dragon

I love green glass…you probably have noticed it since I use it very often in my beads.  I particularly like how it gives that whimsical feel to it.  In this case I made a dragon head and really like how it turned out.  You can find it on Ebay this week.

Lots of new beads!

At last!  It took me a while but I managed to clean the beads, take the pictures and update my website.  I have listed lots of new beads…cats, dogs, cows, florals, abstracts…so check it out!

A visit to the Monterrey Aquarium

How I love the Monterrey Bay Aquarium!!! My favorite this time was the leafy sea dragon.  What an amazing creature!

leafy sea dragon

After a full day of seeing so many sea creatures, I was inspired to make fish and seahorse (or sea dragon) beads.  I just took a picture of a couple of them… I’ll be listing them on Ebay or Etsy…haven’t decided it yet….
